Coronavirus infection rates continue to plummet in Greater Manchester - by as much as 40 per cent in one week

Coronavirus infection rates have continued to fall in every area of Greater Manchester.

All ten of our boroughs are below the national average for England.

Trafford has the highest infection rate across the region, narrowly ahead of Stockport.

Infection rates fell in many areas by 30 per cent week-on-week, with Bolton experiencing the largest decrease in weekly cases, a fall of 44 per cent.

A total of 8,467 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on February 14.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on February 13, a total of 425 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 113 fewer than the week before, a fall of 36 per cent.

On Tuesday February 15, there were 27 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is two more than a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending February 14, a total of 35 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 41 fewer than the week before.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 891,122 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 8,717 deaths.

Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs

In Bury 507 people tested positive, 350 fewer than the week before.

That decrease represents a fall of 41 per cent, with the town's infection rate standing at 265.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Cases fell in Bolton by 44 per cent week-on-week. A total of 756 cases were recorded, 605 fewer than the seven days prior.

The town's infection rate is currently 262.3 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 1006 positive tests in Stockport over the past week, 641 fewer than in the previous week.

Cases fell by 39 per cent and the latest infection rate is 341.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In Rochdale there were 637 positive tests, 252 fewer than the previous week, representing a fall of 28 per cent.

The infection rate is now 284.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Cases fell by 43 per cent across Tameside , with 634 positive tests being recorded, 476 fewer than the previous week.

The borough's infection rate is now 279.2 cases per 100,000 population.

In Salford , the latest infection rate is 314.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Cases fell by 32 per cent across the city with 827 cases being identified, 395 fewer than the week before.

Oldham , which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 587 positive tests, 315 fewer than the previous week.

The town's infection rate is now 247 cases per 100,000 people, and has fallen by 35 per cent week-on-week.

In Wigan there were 998 positive tests, which is 492 fewer than the previous seven days, a 33 per cent week-on-week decrease.

The town's infection rate stands as 301.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Across Trafford there were 819 cases identified, 409 fewer than the previous week.

The week-on-week trend is down by 33 per cent, and the infection rate is currently 344.7 cases per 100,000 people.

Manchester recorded 1696 coronavirus cases, 793 fewer than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Manchester is 305.2 cases per 100,000 people, and is down 32 per cent week-on-week.
