The Covid infection rate has halved in a week across Greater Manchester with case numbers falling faster than at any point in the pandemic.
Latest data has revealed that the case numbers are down 52 per cent across the borough, as of the week ending January 13.
However, it comes following concerns that not all people testing positive on rapid LFT tests at home will be registering their positive result with the NHS.
Prior to January 11, people who tested positive using a lateral flow test were asked to take a PCR test to confirm the result, but the need for the follow up PCR has since been scrapped for those without symptoms.

After reporting a positive LFT test result, people will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace so that their contacts can be traced and must continue to self-isolate.
The latest data has revealed that Bolton continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester.
The borough recorded a rate of 1198.3 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending January 13, according to the latest data from the UK Health Security Agency.
The lowest infection rate is in Stockport, where the rate is 959.9 cases per 100,000 people.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 1087.4 cases per 100,000 population.
The infection rate in the region is higher than the national average, which is 1027.0 cases per 100,000 people.
A total of 30,836 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on January 13.
The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 33366 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 52 per cent in the last week.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on January 09, a total of 1133 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is two more than the week before, a rise of %.
On Tuesday January 11, there were 51 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is six more than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending January 13, a total of 122 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 30 more than the week before.

Wigan
The trend is down in Wigan, where there were 3600 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 13, which is 4738 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 57 per cent compared to the previous week.
The latest infection rate in Wigan is 1088.6 cases per 100,000 people, which is higher than the national average.
Trafford
Trafford is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 992.9 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 2359 cases recorded in Trafford, which is 2635 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 53 per cent.
Stockport
Stockport, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 2824 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 13, which is 3789 fewer than the previous 7 days.
The coronavirus infection rate in Stockport is now 959.9 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 57 per cent week-on-week.
Bolton
In Bolton, there were 3454 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 13, which is 3135 fewer than the previous 7 days.
Bolton has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Bolton is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 48 per cent.
Bury
There was a fall of 51 per cent in cases in Bury over the week ending January 13, and the infection rate is now 1057.1 cases per 100,000 population.
Bury recorded 2016 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 2065 fewer than the previous week.
Manchester
Manchester saw a total of 5904 cases in the week ending January 13, which is 5175 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 47 per cent.
In Manchester, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 1062.4 cases per 100,000 people.
Oldham
In Oldham, the number of cases is down by 54 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 1020.9 cases per 100,000 population.
There were 2426 positive Covid-19 tests in Oldham in the week ending January 13, which was 2881 fewer than the previous 7 days.
Tameside
There were 2684 positive tests over the last week in Tameside, which is 2697 fewer than in the previous week.
The week-on-week trend in Tameside is down by 50 per cent and the latest infection rate is 1181.8 cases per 100,000 people.
Rochdale
In Rochdale, the latest infection rate is 1178.1 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 50 per cent.
A total of 2635 people tested positive for Covid in Rochdale over the seven days ending on January 13, which is 2648 fewer than the week before.
Salford
Salford recorded 2934 coronavirus cases, which is 3603 fewer than in the previous seven days.
The latest infection rate in Salford is 1116.9 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 55 per cent week-on-week.
