Coronavirus cases rise in every area within the Bristol region

Coronavirus cases have been on the rise across every part of the Bristol region. Since yesterday's daily update, figures have increased not only regionally but across the entirety of the UK too.

The UK jumped from less to 40,000 cases yesterday to 41,130 in the past 24 hours today. Meanwhile, the Bristol region rose from 723 total new cases yesterday to a total of 860 new cases today.

South Gloucestershire saw the biggest daily rise from yesterday. The area jumped from 176 new cases yesterday to a total of 228 new positive tests.

North Somerset rose from 132 cases yesterday to 166 new cases within the past 24 hours today making it the second biggest riser behind South Gloucestershire.

Bristol jumped from 322 new cases yesterday to 346 positive tests today. This brings the city to a total of 140,512 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

Bath and North East Somerset recorded 120 new coronavirus cases today - an increase on the 93 reported yesterday. There were no new deaths recorded across the entire region either.

The number of positive test results in each area of the Bristol region since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results recorded today (Saturday, February 19) in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 49,393 (+120)

  • Bristol: 140,512 (+346)

  • North Somerset: 53,713 (+166)
  • South Gloucestershire: 79,317 (+228)

The number of deaths recorded in each area of Bristol since the beginning of the pandemic is as follows, with new deaths within 28 days of a positive test in brackets:

  • Bath and North East Somerset: 289 (-)

  • Bristol: 664 (-)
  • North Somerset: 414 (-)
  • South Gloucestershire: 441 (-)
