Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to fall across all ten boroughs of Greater Manchester - however one borough still has an infection rate above the UK average, according to the latest data.
Stockport now has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester with a rate of 281.4 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 17. This is above the national average currently.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 216.0 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 271.6 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 6,126 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on April 17. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 2387 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 28 per cent in the last week.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 17, a total of 692 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 23 fewer than the week before, a fall of 3 per cent.
On Tuesday April 19, there were 19 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is three more than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending April 17, a total of 60 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 3 more than the week before. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 981,780 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester and a total of 9,137 deaths.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs
Rochdale
Rochdale is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 182.9 cases per 100,000 people. There were 409 cases recorded in Rochdale, which is 213 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 34 per cent.
Stockport
In Stockport, there were 828 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 17, which is 269 fewer than the previous 7 days. The infection rate in Stockport is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 25 per cent.
Oldham
Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 419 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 17, which is 166 fewer than the previous 7 days. The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 176.3 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 28 per cent week-on-week.
Trafford
There were 642 positive tests over the last week in Trafford, which is 303 fewer than in the previous week. The week-on-week trend in Trafford is down by 32 per cent and the latest infection rate is 270.2 cases per 100,000 people.
Manchester
There was a fall of 19 per cent in cases in Manchester over the week ending April 17, and the infection rate is now 190.4 cases per 100,000 population. Manchester recorded 1058 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 254 fewer than the previous week.
Tameside
Tameside saw a total of 459 cases in the week ending April 17, which is 216 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 32 per cent. In Tameside, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 202.1 cases per 100,000 people.
Wigan
In Wigan, the latest infection rate is 236.2 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 28 per cent. A total of 781 people tested positive for Covid in Wigan over the seven days ending on April 17, which is 305 fewer than the week before.
Salford
The trend is down in Salford, where there were 569 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 17, which is 243 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 30 per cent compared to the previous week. The latest infection rate in Salford is 216.6 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Bury
Bury recorded 425 coronavirus cases, which is 209 fewer than in the previous seven days. The latest infection rate in Bury is 222.9 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 33 per cent week-on-week.
Bolton
In Bolton, the number of cases is down by 28 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 186.0 cases per 100,000 population. There were 536 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending April 17, which was 209 fewer than the previous 7 days.
