Coronation Street viewers 'uncover truth' as Stu Carpenter's murderous past exposed

Coronation Street viewers believe they have uncovered the real truth as Stu Carpenter's murderous past was exposed.

The character, played by Bill Fellows, has been a hit with fans ever since he played a key role in the downfall of the villainous Corey Brent. Stu was homeless when he was first introduced onto the show, but has since got back on his feet.

He has since gained a job at Speed Daal and started a relationship with Yasmeen Metcalfe. However, the co-owner of Speed Daal was rocked in tonight's show when Stu's ex, Lucy Woodrow, turned up at the Cobbles.

Stu recently tried to get back in touch with his estranged daughter, Bridget, but Lucy warned him to stay away. Lucy shared staggering details from Stu's past as she revealed he served time for murdering a waitress named Charlie Walters.

Lucy claimed Stu killed Charlie to cover up an affair they had been having. She also said his DNA was found on the body and he confessed to the crimes.

Yasmeen was horrified by the revelation and vowed to cut ties with Stu. However, viewers following the show on Twitter think there is another side to Lucy's story.

Fans following the show on Twitter think Stu may have confessed to the crime to cover for his daughter, who is the real culprit.

Ryan said: "What if Bridget killed Charlie?"

Luna added: "Bridget's the real killer and Stu's covering for her!"

Other fans are convinced Stu must be innocent.

Alicia said: "I believe Stu is innocent, there's more to this story surely.. looking forward to seeing more of it unfold"

Elizabeth posted: "Stu's been framed I reckon or forced to confess."

Sue tweeted: "Stu is innocent"
