Coronation Street viewers struggle to watch Ryan's grim fate unfold

Coronation Street viewers were distraught to see Ryan struggle to deal with his medical treatment.

Ryan told his surgeons he was ready to look at the damage dealt after the acid attack but the result left him emotionally traumatised and defeated.

He was informed he'd need a skin graft in order to recover properly which sent him spiralling, admitting he wasn't ready to do so and he wished to be left alone.

Carla momentarily stepped away from his room for a coffee run but returned to an empty bed after Ryan made a run for it. Witnessing him in such a state of despair and sadness, viewers found tonight's episode hard to take in.

Sharing their sympathies, one viewer said: "Can understand Ryan running away, he’s frightened of all the extra pain he has to go through to help him heal, heartbreaking…"

Another added: "This Ryan story is so well done." A third said: "This is so hard to watch." Alongside a string of broken heart emojis, a final added: "Ryan in denial over his skin graft. He needs to have that skin Graft it's for the best. Ryan can still have a good long and healthy life despite what happened. He can still pursue his dreams.

Ryan eventually returned to his room after he calmed down but relayed his concerns and worries that his life is over because of his scars. After the pain the graft left on his arm, he's hesitant to move forward with the treatment, subtly but not explicitly admitting he'd rather be dead.
