Coronation Street viewers are comparing David Platt's 'last' scene on the street to a famous sitcom

Coronation Street fans were somewhat emotional following the latest trip to the Wetherfield.

In Monday's night's double bill of the ITV soap, it was moving day for some of the residents as Ray Crosby's plan to demolish the street continues.

This included the Platt's leaving Number 8 and moving to the 'dog and gun estate' after Ray snapped up the property from David.

Gail and David were seen packing up their belongings after spending years on the street and despite a few tensions between the mother and son, they eventually called a truce and bid farewell to their home.

But Corrie viewers have been comparing David's 'last' scene on the street to a famous sitcom.

As he stood in the empty living room and glanced around at the property he has always lived in, fans felt it was reminiscent to the final scene in American sitcom Friends.

Gail also said farewell to No.8 (ITV)

In the episode, entitled 'The Last One', the six main characters stand in Monica and Chandler's apartment for the final time, marking the end of an era.

One Corrie fan tweeted: "The Platts moving out of their property in #Corrie got me right in the feels. Felt like when Monica & Chandler moved out in the final episode of #Friends!"

"That episode of #Corrie was everything the Friends finale wanted to be," another commented.

A third added: "#Corrie that preview is like the Friends finale."

Others felt quite sad watching the scenes play out.

"Thanks, @itvcorrie. You broke my heart. #corrie," one wrote alongside an image of Gail sat on a box alone in the house.

Another said: "Awww it was so sad seeing the platts leaving their home #corrie."

"We need a petition to get David Platt his house back! Who’s with me?" a third added.
