Coronation Street viewers are calling for Dr Gaddas to become a regular cast member

Coronation Street fans are calling for Dr Susan Gaddas to get a more prominent role in the soap.

Viewers have been delighted to notice that the Weatherfield GP has been getting more lines in the show as well as being at the centre of the drama in some meaty storylines.

Dr Gaddas, who joined the soap in 2014 and is played by Christine Mackie, has treated several of the street's famous residents.

She diagnosed Max Turner with ADHD, treated Beth Tinker when she was allergic to one of Sinead's bath bombs and she confirmed a diagnosis of depression for Steve McDonald.

She phoned an ambulance for Tim Metcalfe after he suffered a heart attack and she lent a sympathetic ear when Asha Alahan was using skin lightening cream.

Recently she helped to care for Sinead Osbourne in her final moments before she tragically lost her life to cancer and she's causing upset for Dr Ali Neeson by reporting him for failing to detect that Emma Brooker had a ruptured appendix.

"Ooh, Dr Gaddas is popping up a lot lately on #Corrie," tweeted one fan.

"Hope they make her a regular like emmerdale did with Liam. I want to know why she left her car in Manchester last night for starters, by the smile on her face there’s a story there!"

Another wrote: "More Doctor Gaddas please. More more more."

"Can Dr Gaddas be a regular please?" asked another fan."

And another commented: "Omg I just love Dr Gaddas. please give the woman a storyline."
