Coronation Street tour gets huge expansion with new sets, cinema and café

Guests will be able to take a seat in Roy's Rolls once the brand new Coronation Street Experience opens.

The world’s longest running soap will open its doors even wider with the launch of the brand new attraction bringing some of the most beloved parts of the soap to life on June 10.

The recently opened visitor centre has been home to the programme’s tours for the past few months and is now fully developed into a one stop shop for every Corrie fan giving access to replica sets, historic props, iconic costumes and of course the Corrie ‘shop’.

For seven days a week the Corrie Experience will also be open, meaning fans can take a seat in Roy’s Rolls, stand behind the bar at The Rovers and see iconic costumes and props from over 60 years of drama at the ITV Studios at Stretford, Manchester.

The award-winning 90-minute tour has been hugely popular since it launched in 2014, attracting fans not just from the UK but from all over the world. The new exhibition floor will complement the tour, alongside a cinema, café and retail space.

In addition to the replica sets and original props, the tour itself has also evolved to include access to new sets such as Weatherfield Precinct, letting visitors discover even more secrets from their expert tour guides.

They will also get a chance to take a look at the factory, Underworld, and Dev's shop The Kabin and every other part of the famous cobbled street.

Armed with all the local knowledge and behind-the-scenes secrets, the guides will take their guests through the whole street, reminding them of some of the iconic storyline moments that took place as well as snap a selfie - or two - on the iconic road.

The experience opens on June 10 (ITV)

The Corrie set is located in Manchester at MediaCity, which sits on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal in Salford and Trafford.

Corrie hasn't always been filmed in MediaCity. It was formerly located at the Granada Studios in Quay Street, moving over to the new location in 2014.

Neil Currie, guest experience manager, said: "We know that fans of Coronation Street want to get up close to some of the props and sets that they see on screen, be it Deirdre’s infamous glasses, or inside The Rovers Return.

“Having this kind of exhibition floor also gives us the chance to constantly update and change things alongside the programme’s on air stories, once a storyline has played out on your TV screen, we’ll be updating the props and costumes along the way.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer fans of Coronation Street an even more immersive experience with the launch of the Coronation Street Experience and can’t wait for our first guests to arrive."

Tickets for the Coronation Street Experience are available now, with exhibition only tickets costing adults £7.50, children £6 and students £6, with the exhibition and tour costing adults £35, children £26 and students £26.
