Coronation Street’s Summer Spellman is in for a major storyline on the ITV soap over the Christmas season, as the fallout from her shock pregnancy continues.
The teen, played by Harriet Bibby, has gone through a difficult year after struggling over her diabetes diagnosis and failing one of her A-Levels, leading to her dropping out of university.
Monday evening’s scenes on the cobbles saw Summer Spellman visit a clinic to undergo an abortion after she learned she was pregnant earlier this month with boyfriend Aaron (James Craven).
However, new photos taken from the set of Coronation Street filming touch on the fact that the pregnancy may not have been terminated.
Harriet Bibby, Vanessa Hehir and Tom Lorcan, who play Summer, Esther and Mike were all spotted shooting for the serial drama.
Summer is pictured with a brown envelope in hand as she visits Mike and Esther’s home – so could it be money in the envelope?
Summer could put in motion plans to sell her baby on the cobbles after she received a shock proposal from Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) parishioners Esther and Mike.
Esther has discovered Summer was pregnant and shared that she was unable to conceive , telling the teenager that if she chose to carry the baby to full term, her and Mike would want to adopt it.
Summer was horrified when they promised her money for the baby, but they assured her that it was compensation as opposed to transactional purchase of the newborn.
Summer confided in Aaron, but ultimately decided to have an abortion – only for ITV spoilers to reveal she is set to change her mind.
This week, Summer meets with Mike and Esther and agrees to let them adopt her baby, but reveals that she’ll need £10,000 upfront.
With that all taken care of, Summer needs to tell Aaron what is happening, and he gets a series of shocks with the first being that she's still pregnant.
She then tells him all about Mike and Esther and their plans for the baby, and that she now has the money he needs to send his dad off to rehab so he can get better.
But how will Aaron react to this massive decision being made without him?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
