Coronation Street's Bill Fellows has warned of a heartbreaking twist in Stu's storyline.
The ITV soap aired some dramatic scenes recently, after Stu's ex-wife arrived and revealed all about his past apparent involvement in the murder of a young girl. However, all was not as it seems and Stu has insisted he is innocent.
Zeedan has been working hard to prove Stu is innocent, but Yasmeen is currently still struggling with the news, unsure what best to do next after her heartache with ex-partner Geoff. However, actor Bill has teased there is more heartache in store for Stu and the rest of his new family as he desperately tries to prove his innocence.
He said: "It is a heartbreaking storyline because there is no winner in this and there is a lot more to come, it’s not just a case of Stu fighting to clear his name. There are a lot of twists and turns, and it is very hurtful and heartbreaking for all involved."
Stu returns to the Street next week, but his previous 'crime' is still sitting badly with the residents.
"You have to remember that Stu was in prison for the murder of a young girl who was only 20 years old so I think a lot of the neighbours are upset about that because some of them have daughters who are 18/19 years old," he added.
"Dev is especially confrontational. The restaurant, Speed Daal, starts to do badly because of him, people start to cancel their bookings. Stu is really shaken by it because he knows these people, his neighbours, but they are turning on him without knowing the facts."
He explained: "He tries to tell them he is innocent, but they don’t believe him and that is really hard for him."
Zeedan has been supporting Stu through it all, visiting him in prison after he was arrested for a breach of the peace and not leaving Yasmeen's home when he tried to explain what had happened.
Bill was "surprised" when he found out all about Stu's past.
He explained: "When [producer] Iain MacLeod first told me the storyline, I thought it was a great storyline and I liked the twist. He then told me that Stu had been in prison for 27 years which surprised me and he told me that Stu had had an affair with a young waitress when he was married and had a child at home and that was a surprise too!
"But that's why I call Stu a flawed character and I love this storyline because I love that Stu is flawed, I like that he has made mistakes."
