Coronation Street fans have been on the edge of their seats wondering about Stu Carpenter's mysterious backstory.
It has previously been revealed that he has a secret daughter, but in Monday night's episode, Virgin Media viewers found out that he appears to have a dark past.
An incident 34 years ago appears to be what led to him becoming distant with his family for over three decades.

Not a lot has been confirmed about the storyline but the latest episode hinted something happened with a mystery person years earlier that left Stu in trouble. It seems he was accused of something terrible, which he denies happened.
Viewers watched as Stu managed to track down his daughter Bridget, but things got awkward when she begged him to leave and seemed scared of him, Mirror UK reports.
Then Stu asked her to hear him out before declaring: "I didn't hurt that girl I promise you I didn't."
He told her: "I haven't stopped thinking about you for 34 years," to which she replied: "I can't do this. I'm sorry."
Bridget then shut the door and Stu was left realising he couldn't make amends like he'd hoped, but no more was said about what happened.
The popular Virgin Media soap is yet to explain the incident and who was involved, and how exactly it led to him becoming estranged with his family.
As he bumped into Yasmeen Nazir later on, he lied about his meeting with his daughter claiming she wasn't at the address.
But viewers were fearing what was about to be revealed and believed he would regret lying to Yasmeen further down the line, while others "exposed" Stu's secret.
One fan tweeted: "So was Stu falsely accused of something, but his family didn't give him a chance to clear his name? Or is he a big old wrong un?"
Another said: "I was thinking Stu's secret was something to do with a very dodgy past."
A third fan commented: "Stu just lied to Yasmeen. She will be livid when she finds out!" as a fourth said: "Stu has just lied to Yasmeen."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on Virgin Media One and the Virgin Media Player.
