Coronation Street stars Alan Halsall and Tisha Merry split up after five year romance

Alan Halsall has broken up with his Coronation Street co-star Tisha Merry after five years with a friend saying ‘pressure got to them’.

The actors, who are 41 and 30 respectively, parted ways at the start of this year - having originally met on the set of the soap.

The pair have not released a statement but a friend has shared details with the Sun.

“Alan and Tisha had a lot of love for each other and had really similar interests, enjoying socialising and going on holiday together,” the insider said.

“But they started to drift apart and feel the pressure of making their relationship work get on top of them. They realised they weren’t on the same page and splitting up felt like the best option.”

Halsall has played Tyrone Dobbs for 26 years on the soap. He had been married to Lucy-Jo Hudson, with whom he has a child, from 2009 to 2018.

Merry played a bartender called Steph Britton from 2013 to 2018 and has appeared in other British soaps and television series since then.

The friend added: “They’ve been focusing on themselves and surrounding themselves with their own friends.

“Tisha moved out of Alan’s home around a month ago and is throwing herself into work.”

Halsall had a major knee operation last year which has forced him to take time away from Coronation Street, which he has been part of since 1988.

While they have not officially commented, Halsall did post a Valentine’s picture on Instagram of his daughter Sienna while Merry wrote of “fears and insecurities”.
