Coronation Street star Sam Aston's 'joy' at becoming dad again

Fans of Coronation Street have been sending their congratulations to one of the stars of the show following the news of him becoming a dad once again.

Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown, announced the girl of a baby girl alongside his wife Briony on Wednesday, May 11, and told of their happiness. The couple, who married in 2019 already have a 20-month-old son Sonny.

The couple told OK! magazine: "Our beautiful girl has arrived," before sharing a picture of the adorable newborn in a babygrow saying "little sister" in pink writing with a bunny rabbit image above.

Briony was also flooded with congratulatory messages when she shared an image of her new daughter on her Instagram account. Former Corrie star Tisha Merry, who played Steph Britton on the cobbles, posted: "Awww congratulations to you both!! I hope you’re all doing well! Lots of love."

It was back in October last year when Sam, who's played Chesney for 19 years, announced that he and his yoga teacher wife were expecting their second child. The message simply read: "We're adding another pumpkin to our patch. Due Spring 2022."

Sam and Briony, who married in 2019 at a stunning ceremony in Cheshire, saw their first child, Sonny, arrive six weeks earlier on August 11, 2020.

The couple have known each other since they were young and started chatting on MSN back in the day as smitten teenagers. However, Sam ended the relationship because they were "very young", but love found a way and the couple got back together years later and finally tied the knot in 2019.
