Coronation Street star Rebecca Ryan's forgotten Emmerdale role from 16-years-ago

Many might not recall Coronation Street star Rebecca Ryan had a role in Emmerdale as a child star.

Corrie viewers will likely know Rebecca, 31, as Lydia Chambers. Her character has certainly divided opinion between fans.

Earlier in her career, Rebecca starred in Shameless, Waterloo Road and Casualty. Emmerdale fans may well remember she had a brief stint in the soap in her youth.

Rebecca played Carly Hope in Emmerdale back in 2006. The character is the daughter of Bob and Barbara Hope.

Rebecca had a brief spell as Carly with Gemma Atkinson replacing her. Hollyoaks star and Strictly Come Dancing fave Gemma portrayed the role between 2015 and 2017.

Announcing her Corrie exit, earlier this year, Rebecca told OK! Magazine: "I’m not very well liked at the minute, let’s just say that. I get a lot of hate for the character with people saying how much they dislike her and that she’s awful and ruining Sarah’s life.

"But it’s all part of the fun. It’s great that people are so invested in the storyline and getting so into it, and I’ve had lovely messages from people saying they’re enjoying it."
