Coronation Street star Paula Lane heartbroken as she reveals her uncle has died

Coronation Street actress Paula Lane admits she's 'heartbroken' as she revealed her uncle has passed away.

The actress, 35, who played Kylie Platt on the ITV soap from 2010 to 2016 shared the sad news on Instagram.

Uploading a picture of her on her wedding day proudly kissing her uncle on the cheek she wrote: "My heart is broken. Uncle Paul I will look for you everywhere I walk.

"We loved you so very much. I’ve lost one of the four corners of my jigsaw. We are raising a glass to you today on what should’ve been your 60th birthday.

"Never imagined writing these words you special special man."

Paula's post was met with a flurry of support from her followers.

One posted: "So sorry to hear this sad news taken far too soon big hugs."

While another said: "Ahh that’s young. Thinking about you and your family. Very sad time."

Paula shot to fame on Coronation Street as Becky McDonald's half-sister and had some sizzling storylines over the years.

She married David Platt in 2011, before having a one-night stand with his brother Nick and becoming pregnant.

After Kylie gave birth to her baby Lily, she was murdered by Clayton Hibbs while trying to protect her pal Gemma Winter.

Paula now lives in Yorkshire with her husband Tom Shaw, who she married in 2014, and the couple's two children, Arthur and Penny.

Paula took a break from acting after becoming pregnant with Penny.

She previously told OK! magazine she left Coronation Street to focus on her family, adding: “I think it’s got to be a clean break, I don’t think I’m going to take anything.

"I have to put Kylie in a box, literally. I think that’s the healthiest option."

Last year, the actress wished the soap: “Happy 60th Coronation Street. Forever thankful for 6 wonderful years in the best company and for everything I learnt there.

"So proud to have walked and died on those cobbles! Go team xx.”

In May 2021 Paula made a welcome return to our screens in BBC One's Call The Midwife.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror she credited late actress Barbara Windsor with helping her learn a Cockney accent.

The Yorkshire-born star revealed: “I watched loads of Barbara Windsor films from her Carry On days."
