Coronation Street star Jude Riordan thanks fans for 'always supporting' in new opportunity

Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has thanked fans for "always supporting" him as he is up for an award.

The ITV actor, from St Helens, has wowed audiences with his performances as Sam Blakeman on the cobbles and he is now up for another award. The youngster has been nominated for his first British Soap Award.

Jude's been entered for the 'Young Performer' category for his role in ITV show. Posting on Instagram, the schoolboy said: "Playing Sam Blakeman is a JOY! If you agree you can vote for me for Best Young Performer at the British Soap Awards (OMG). Can you believe it?

"What a brilliant category. Thanks for always supporting me. Link is in my stories and bio. Best team."

This isn't the first award the TV star has been nominated for. Last year he took home the Best Newcomer Prize at both the National Television Awards and the Inside Soap Awards.

The 11-year-old won the hearts of Corrie fans when he made his Weatherfield debut in 2020 after he discovered that Nick Tilsley was his father. Fans were quick to wish him well.

Taking to the comments section, Carole Harman said: "You get my vote every time." Abbi added: "I did, there was no way I wasn't voting for my little fave." Bob also said: "Well done Jude, you have my vote."

The longlist of nominees was announced on Tuesday (April 11) and the first round of public voting is now open. There will be two rounds of public voting for each of these categories, the first of which is now open and will close at 5pm on April 25.

A vote must be cast in every category for votes to be valid and a vote can only be cast for one nominee in each category. The second round of voting opens at 10am on May 2 and will close at 5pm on June 2. This will whittle down the Best Leading Performer category to five nominees.

The remaining categories will be decided by a panel of judges, with the nominations to be confirmed on an as yet unconfirmed date. The winners will be announced at the British Soap Awards which are to be broadcast on ITV at a time to be announced in June 2023.
