Coronation Street star Cait Fitton has opened up about her return to the ITV soap saying the call to come back 'wasn't expected' as she revealed who has taken her under her wing.
The actress first made her debut on the cobbles back in November as the daughter of Reece Bolton who was in a gang with the racist Griff Reynolds who used Lauren in order to groom Max Turner. Lauren and Max soon sparked a romance as he was lured further into Griff's murky trap.
Corrie fans saw Lauren leave Weatherfield back in January to spend time with her mum in Cornwall, convinced she’d be safer there, after the police finally got Griff and his gang bang to rights after unleashing terror on the famous street.

But next week, viewers will see Lauren, just as Max is getting to know new love interest Bec. Spoilers have revealed that Max will be seen heading towards Bec’s flat when Gav, Bec's ex and his former STC pal as he got in touch with Bec on his behalf, approaches and explains that he’s been released from the STC and he intends to marry Bec.
However, when Max reveals that Bec has moved on and she’s going out with him now, Gav’s furious and grabs him. Spotting Bec, Max shouts at her to run, but has Bec got her own secrets?
Later, Max is shocked when Lauren approaches, revealing that she fell out with her mum, wants nothing more to do with her dad or his right-wing mates, and spent last night kipping in the bus station. Feeling sorry for her, Max takes her to the café.
But that's not the end of Max being reminded about what's happened in recent months as Max will be heard telling Spider Nugent that the CPS want him to make a statement for Griff’s trial. Spider encourages him to do the right thing. With Shona Platt at his side, Max meets with the CPS lawyer and confirms he’s willing to make a statement about how Griff groomed and manipulated him.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News and other press about her return, Cait said of how she feels about coming back and if she was surprised to get the call: "Honestly, it feels like I've never left which is such a lovely feeling. It's such an amazing place to work and I feel like a learnt so much the first time about myself and I got to work with some amazing people and got to be part of such a big storyline.
"So to be told I was coming back was unexpected because Lauren was supposed to be a temporary character as part of the [extremist] storyline. So when I got told she was coming back I was so excited because I cand develop the character more and we can see her in a different light. It wasn't expected at all but I was so excited to find out the news."
With Corrie being her first major role, Cait told us how her first credited role was in Doctors and she got her latest gig with a little help from a former EastEnders star. "I started acting when I was six years old. I was a hobby at the start then I got put onto an agency," she shared.
"I did a few bits here and there and when I was 18 I got transferred to the InterTalent Group and my agent is Brooke Kinsella [who played Kelly Taylor in the BBC One soap].
"I auditioned for Corrie for so many years but I never really got anywhere and I was always told 'you're time will come' and when I got this tape through [for Lauren], I had that feeling. I was just like, 'There's something about this. I need to get this!' And I went in for the audition and I got it. It just shows if you fight hard and work hard for your dreams you can achieve."
And Cait is really enjoying being back on the cobbles and revealed who in the cast has taken her under their wing. "Everyone's just so lovely..." she said. "Me and Paddy [Bever - who plays Max] spend so much time together all the time. He's great and Julia Goulding [Shona Platt] is amazing. She probably took me under her wing...
"Todd Boyce [Stephen Reid] is lovely. He's so lovely. Everyone's just been so nice. Even on my first day and my first day back, everyone just immediately came up to me and made me feel part of the family again. It's been amazing. Everyone's been so kind."
