Coronation Street’s Chesney is set to be put in a difficult position next week on the soap, after the shock arrival of Joseph’s gran Linda Hancock.
The surprise appearance of late Katy Armstrong’s mum from Portugal begs the question of whether Chesney (Sam Aston) could be about to lose son Joseph (William Flanagan) on Coronation Street.
This comes fresh off the Joseph disappearance nightmare after he ran away from his dad, forcing Chesney and Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) to issue an appeal with the help of the police.
ITV spoilers now reveal that Chesney is left shocked when Linda Hancock (Jacqueline Leonard) appears in Weatherfield in upcoming scenes.
The drama begins on Wednesday, February 16, when Linda makes her surprise appearance from Portugal at No 5.
Linda suggests it must be hard coping with five kids, but Chesney is at pains to reassure her all’s well in the family - as Joseph shoots his dad an incredulous look.
But later in the week on Friday, February 18, Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) gives the game away to Linda during a chat in the Rovers.
After Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) makes a scornful comment, an annoyed Dev ends up revealing that when Joseph went missing and a reward was put up, she tried to steal the money.
Linda immediately goes to confront Chesney and Gemma for keeping her in the dark about her grandson’s ordeal.
In Victoria Garden, Chesney admits how tough the family life has been of late, prompting Linda’s sympathy.
She assures him he has her full support and announces that she’s decided to stay a bit longer.
However, this comes after spoiler pictures revealed that Chesney is headed for more emotional turmoil, as snaps showed him breaking down crying alongside Joseph while filming in Manchester Airport.
The photos showed Chesney sharing a touching hug with Joseph as his gran Linda looks on, with suitcases in hand for the pair.
A source said: “These snaps suggest all is not well. It looks like Joseph could be heading off and leaving dad Chesney behind. Fans might want to stock up on tissues.”
Is Linda going to whisk Joseph off to Portugal for a holiday – or for good?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
