Coronation Street's Alex Bain has announced he is engaged.
The soap star is renowned for his role as Simon Barlow on the Cobbles. He has been in a relationship with his girlfriend, Mollie Lockwood, since the end of 2019.
The 20-year-old actor popped the question in October last year but has since kept the happy news under wraps. He has now revealed to OK! why it was the "right time" to ask Mollie for her hand in marriage.

He said: "I can't spend my life with anyone else." The Corrie star admitted he was nervous he was as he prepared to pop the question as he and Mollie watched the sunset from the balcony in their room during a romantic night out in Chester.
He said: "That’s when I just asked her. I thought, ‘If I don’t do it now, I’ll keep getting more and more nervous!’ I was pretty certain she’d say yes, but I was still bricking it." Mollie is aged 19 and said they kept the engagement secret to "enjoy that special time together, just the two of us, for a while.”
They told their loved ones the happy news on Christmas Day last year and are now planning on moving in together in Chester. Alex is a dad to a four-year-old, Levi Rose, from his previous relationship.
The Corrie star has issued an update on any plans for future children as he said he plans to marry Mollie before welcoming any more children into the world.
He said: "Mollie would be an incredible mum."
