Coronation Street's Simon Gregson claps back at cosmetic surgery claims after Steve McDonald's new look

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has clapped back at claims his had cosmetic surgery after his on-screen character sported a different look. Fans of the ITV soap were flocking to comment about Steve McDonald as he made a change earlier this week.

During Monday night's episode, Steve was seen in the living room of 1 Coronation Street as he sat back with his wife Tracy, played by Kate Ford. Steve and Tracy chatted with daughter Amy as she got ready for pal Nina Lucas' birthday party and in a sweet heart-to-heart they told Amy they were proud of her after her recent rape ordeal with Aaron Sandford.

But some viewers were distracted by Steve as they clocked that he was wearing a baseball cap including @Dee_Cee95x who asked on Twitter: "How different does Steve look in that hat?" And @mikepriestley13 who remarked jokingly about the popular character: "Steve wearing a baseball cap he’s a Poundland version of Eminem in that cap."

However, in the next instalment of the long-running programme, Steve was seen without his new accessory and that equally got viewers commenting like @corriepodcast who tweeted: "Steve’s lost his cap already." And @clatworthy1973 who pleaded: "Can we please start a petition to bring back Steve's cap? #corrie."

But taking to Instagram, Simon has squashed rumours that he has had a "hair transplant" after some suspected he was hiding the start of the process underneath his hat. And the former I’m A Celebrity star has taken to Instagram to dispel the rumours.

Sharing a snap of himself wearing a white hoodie and a matching white baseball hat, he humoured fans on their cheeky comments online. He captioned the post: "To those who think I've had a hair transplant coz I’m in a hat, I'm also in a hoodie with no boob job. People are strange."

And it wasn't long before his famous friends and adoring fans flooded to the comments to poke fun at him further. Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap, quipped: "What’s wrong with a hair transplant ?? Asking for a friend [shifty eyes emoji, two cry-laughing emojis]."

TV personality Ian Lawman joked in response to Simon's caption: "So why are you wearing trousers then? [cry-laughing emojis]." And his former 'drag mentor' Myra DuBois, who helped the soap star reveal his inner drag queen on ITV's Queens for the Night, mocked: "One might argue that you don’t need the boob job."
