Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has spoken out in support of Lewis Capaldi after he was helped by fans during his performance at Glastonbury over the weekend. People have been showing their support in their droves after the Scottish singer powered through an emotional set on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage as he steadily lost his voice.
Earlier this month, 26-year-old Lewis cancelled all his other commitments in June ahead of the festival at Worthy Farm to allow himself time to “rest and recover”.
On Saturday evening, Lewis treated the crowd of adoring fans to a host of hit tracks from his two chart-topping albums as well as taking his shirt off at one stage. Among the songs on his set list were Forget Me, the lead single off his recently released second studio album, Before You Go and Hold Me While You Wait.

After performing Bruises, he admitted he was having voice issues, telling the crowd: "I’m going to be honest everybody but I’m starting to lose my voice up here, but we’re going to keep going and we’re going to go until the end. I just need you all to sing with me as loud as you can if that’s okay?"
He continued to apologise to the crowd, and the Eavis family who organise Glastonbury, for his voice starting to go – but the ocean of fans replied by cheering him on and chanting: "Oh Lewis Capaldi."
And one video on social media showed Lewis appearing overwhelmed with emotion as he closed his set as the crowd belted out his Grammy-nominated track Someone You Loved when he was struggling to sing some of the notes before he told them: "I love you all."
Among those to share the clip was Samia, who is famed for playing Maria Windass in Corrie. She posted it to her Instagram Story and wrote: "Goosebumps watching this.. I hope @lewiscapaldi gives himself the break he needs," alongside a heart and face holding back tears emoji as she added the hashtag 'Mental Health Matters'.
Samia has previous been open about her own mental health struggles. Speaking on Loose Women in 2021, the ITV soap star told how she found herself receiving an asthma diagnosis as a child when she was actually suffering from crippling anxiety. "Everyone who knows me has always known I'm quite an anxious person," she said on the ITV programme.
"I'm known for being a bit of a worrier and being really cautious with everything. I've had anxiety since I was a child and when I was a child, my mum took me to the doctors and the doctor first diagnosed asthma because I couldn't get a deep breath." And Samia was applauded the same year when she revealed she had achieved a diploma in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
