Coronation Street's Millie Gibson and Kel Allen glam up on night away from Weatherfield

Coronation Street pair Kel Allen and Millie Gibson looked worlds away from their characters on the Weatherfield cobbles as they enjoyed a night on the town together in Manchester at the weekend.

The stars, also known as mother and daughter duo Laura and Kelly Neelan, stunned as they downed cocktails with friends at Media City cocktail bar The Alchemist.

Millie, who turned 18 last month, took to Instagram to share a snap of the blonde foursome's evening on her Stories.

Dressed in a short denim corset, the London-born actress completed her look with black boots just below the knee and a matching clutch purse.

On screen-mother Kel, 38, whose character recently passed away, rocked a chic dark grey 60s-style t-shirt along with wide-leg stonewash pale jeans and and tri-coloured headscarf.

Millie also took to the social media platform in April to pay tribute to Kel after the pair filmed harrowing scenes in which Laura lost her battle with stomach cancer.

Writing at the time, Millie said: "Can't say thank you enough for all the love on last nights episode. Kel, Laura. I’ll love you forever and always…"

Fans were quick to praise the teenager's performance with one of her 129,000 followers commenting: "Your acting is incredible, I'm sure these scenes have been quite challenging and you've smashed it."

Another wrote: "Just caught up with this episode. Honestly can't stop crying. You acting is so good! Really felt like it was happening all over again when my mum past from stomach cancer."

A third added: "I was shedding some tears at this. Brilliant actress, you will go far!"

And a fourth said: "Wow just watched this episode and what an amazing performance. Well done xxx."

On departing the soap in April, Kel shared an image of her final scene to her own Instagram account alongside the caption: "RIP Laura Neelan 26.10.1981- 8.4.22. I miss her already."

Like Millie, she was praised by fans for her acting skills in the upsetting episode,

"Absolutely loved watching you. Hope to see more of you in the future," wrote one user.

Another commented: "You are brilliant. Will miss you."

A third simply added: "Outstanding."
