Coronation Street's Max Turner star supported by cast as he shares career news

Coronation Street stars have rushed to wish their castmate Paddy Bever well as he shared an exciting career update on Tuesday.

The Max Turner actor took to Instagram to announce he has been shortlisted for the Rising Star gong at this year's National Television Awards (NTAs).

Paddy, 19, took on the role of David Platt's stepson in 2021. He took over from Harry McDermott, who played Max from 2010 onwards but left the soap to carry on with his acting studies and to see what other opportunities were available.

Max didn't start on great terms as he accused Daniel Osbourne of grooming Summer Spellman while drunk at the school's winter ball. He then injured himself, falling when Daniel found him after trying to trash his flat.

Despite his mischievous behaviour, Paddy has become a firm favourite with fans of the show. And it seems he has won over his fellow co-stars, too.

After he shared his good news on social media, many of his fellow Cobbles castmates were quick to show their support.

Paddy said he was "incredibly excited", before thanking those who voted for him. He also said he was in "such good company" alongside "huge talents".

Amy Barlow star Elle Mulvaney said: "Loooooove this!!!" [sic], while Millie Gibson, who plays Kelly Neelan, said: "Ahh that's my boy!". Sam Blakeman actor Jude Riordan said: "Voted Paddy", while Toyah Habeeb star Georgia Taylor said: "Yes, Paddy! Thrilled for you, darling boy".
