Coronation Street's Kim Marsh teases Michelle Connor's return from Ireland in major plot twist

Kim Marsh has teased that her iconic character Michelle Connor could make a huge return to the cobbles after moving to Ireland.

It would have huge consequences for the Virgin Media One soap, after Michelle originally fled to Ireland after realising Steve McDonald had cheated on her and fathered baby Oliver with Leanne Battersby.

Then in 2019, after moving on with Robert Preston, history repeated itself when Robert found out he was the father of Vicky Jefferies' child.

Michelle went on to scam him out of the bistro, before fleeing across the Irish sea.

Kim, who played the character from 2006 to 2019, opened up about the potential return at last week's Pride of Manchester Awards.

She told the Daily Star: "Well, who knows? I mean, I'm in Waterloo Road now - I've just started filming for that. But you know, I've got a real soft spot for Corrie, and one day I have no doubt I'll set my feet on the cobbles again."

Kym is soon to become a grandmother for the second time at the age of just 45. She has admitted she gets told "all the time" that she's simply too young for the role.

"What I love is my grandson has decided to call me Yaya, so we've decided that my new grandson is also going to call me Yaya - which is Greek for grandma, " Kym said.

On her former pop band Hear'Say reuniting, Kym said: "I know a few of us would like to [reunite], but timing and other people’s careers and that... so I’m not sure really."

Coronation Street airs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on Virgin Media One.
