Coronation Street's Kelly Neelan in tears after mum's death but fans left distracted

ITV Coronation Street viewers were distracted as Laura Neelan died in tonight's episode.

Friday's edition of the long-running soap aired heart-breaking scenes as the character tragically lost her battle with cancer. Kelly had cut ties with her mum after she lied she had murdered her father Rick Neelan.

Viewers are aware Gary is the real killer, but Laura made the sacrifice as she knew she was dying and the revelation would help Kelly move on with her life. Laura was given hours to live by her doctor in tonight's programme.

However, Kelly was set to attend an awards ceremony to pick up the gong for best trainee hairdresser and opted against seeing her mum. The character, played by Millie Gibson, eventually realised she wanted to bid goodbye to her mum but left it too late as she had already died by the time she had reached the hospital.

Kelly was in tears after the revelation before she climbed onto the bed and hugged Laura. Viewers following the show on Twitter were emotional at the tragic scenes.

However, others were distracted throughout the episode by the immaculate condition of Laura's eyebrows as she lay on her deathbed.

Rachel said: "At deaths door but she's still got her eyebrows immaculately painted on"

Che added: "Blimey, Laura's eyebrows stole that scene."

Traylor commented : "Laura might be dying but her eyebrows are on FLEEK"

@ConversationStr posted: "Massive props to the nurse who has been dutifully filling in Laura’s eyebrows for her while she lays on her deathbed."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV and the ITV Hub
