Jodie Pregner makes her debut on Coronation Street next week as George's sister arrives on the Cobbles.
Cruise worker Glenda - played by Jodie - steps foot on the ITV soap next week, as her brother George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) is struggling. In next week's show, he arrives at the undertakers having taken Eileen's painkillers.
He's got a painful toothache and nabbed a couple of her painkillers to try and help ease it, but as he prepares for Mr Pugh's funeral, Todd Grimshaw soon realises that George is as high as a kite.
Panicking, Todd shoves George into one of the funeral cars.
Angry, Mrs Pugh complains to Todd, just as George’s sister Glenda steps onto the Cobbles and notices her brother asleep in the back of the funeral car. Taking charge, she makes sure things run smoothly and Todd is thrilled.
Him and Sean celebrate how well the funeral went, George arrives and is pleased to see Glenda, quickly introducing her to Eileen.
Meanwhile, Jodie previously confessed it was a "very special moment" in her life to sign up to the show.
Speaking about her role recently, she said: "I know I sound like a soppy sod, but it’s been on my bucket list to be in Coronation Street since I was little. It’s an honour, it truly is a very special moment in my life.
"To be part of something my family and I have loved for so long. And what a character, oh I have to say, total dream part. I can't wait for you all to meet fun and sassy Glenda, George Shuttleworth's sister. I love Tony Maudsley already, what a fella!"
She added: "Your first day on the cobbles is one of the most nerve wrecking experiences you’ll go though and everyone was just so gloriously lovely, kind and welcoming. It was, and is, everything I expected, and more."
Producer Iain MacLeod added of Glenda's storyline: "Glenda sails in fresh from the cruise ships with a whiff of the exotic, quickly making best friends and enemies in equal measure.
"The character is loads of fun and has echoes of classic Coronation Street females of old. Jodie is a fabulous talent and we are all very excited to have her aboard. She has felt very Corrie since the moment she stepped onto set and I think the viewers will love her."
