Coronation Street's Hope speechless as she unveils unearthed recordings of John Stape

John Stape's twisted past is in the past of being uncovered in Coronation Street, with his daughter Hope at the helm of the drama.

As the youngster celebrates her birthday, she was gifted a laptop by her mum Fiz and soon-to-be step-dad, Tyrone Dobbs.

But while most kids would've been grateful, Hope was far from impressed as she responded "yeah, nice one", when asked what she thought of the gift.

"Have you still got that old cassette player you used to have?" she asked her mum before covering up, explaining she'd been given a playlist by Sam and needed something to play it on.

But all was not lost as Fiz and Tyrone had sneakily placed a cassette player in a game of pass the parcel, which she ultimately won before rushing home to listen to the tapes.

As the Stape-Dobbs family return to their home on the cobbled street, Hope seems keen to get her family out of the house as she reveals she's "not listening" to the alleged mixtape in front of anybody.

However, the pair give in to Hope's demands and Tyrone heads off to work while Fizz says she's heading upstairs for a bath before the pair attempted to listen in.

As Hope tunes in, John discusses Louisa May Alcott's book, Little Women, and "transports" listeners to a small house in New England.

"Hello, my name is John Stape and I'd like to welcome you to the third in my series of study units," his voice says before adding: "In this session, I'm going to talk to you about Little Women – the classic coming-of-age novel by Louisa May Alcott.

"So, wherever you are, sit back, relax and let me transport you to a little farmhouse in the countryside of New England where our story begins."

But after Fiz had been informed that Hope had reportedly been attempting to contact John's "spirit" through an ouija board, she revealed to her mum that she "didn't need" to contact his spirit anymore.

Amid all the chaos of John's tapes being unearthed, Fiz reveals she isn't keen on the stress while planning her upcoming nuptials to Tyrone.

In recent months, Hope has shown a strong interest in her murderous father John after discovering a book which had been written about the former school teacher.

Fiz and Tyrone were horrified when a local newspaper began printing excerpts of the book which had also made a reference to his "offspring", Hope.

Since the scenes aired, fans had speculated over who the other could have been and why they were instilling fear in Fiz.

Some believe that the author could in fact be John's other daughter, Jade Rowan.

" I'll be mighty surprised if it isn't Jade behind the latest John Stape drama in," tweeted one.

Before a second went on to add: "I wonder if the author of the book could be Jade? She was John Stapes' other daughter and when she left she said this wouldn't be the end of it!"
