Coronation Street's Georgia Taylor teases 'unusual' upcoming scenes as Toyah goes 'missing'

Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor has teased that she's filmed some 'unusual' scenes after it was revealed that Toyah Habeeb will go 'missing' from Weatherfield next week.

In upcoming scenes, Toyah's boyfriend Spider Nugent will be seen attending a meeting with his superintendent who informs him about a new job which would mean moving away with a new identity but would protect him from extremist Griff Reynoldswho’s out for blood after he infiltrated his gang and acted as an informant.

Meanwhile, Toyah is left suspicious of Spider when she finds bank statements showing her partner is nowhere near as skint as he’s been making out. Paranoid, she goes through his laptop, discovering he’s been emailing his ex and searching for houses near her.

Under fire, Spider explains he’s been trying to accelerate his divorce and his savings went on something for her. Suddenly dropping to one knee, Spider produces a ring and asks Toyah to marry him.

"She’s definitely shocked," Georgia said of her character's reaction to the sudden proposal. "I think she thought they would probably get a place together and live together for a bit, so this feels like maybe jumping the gun a little bit, although she does love him very much.

"I think the issue is that because he has been hiding things from her, you could argue that if it’s all above board with his ex why has he not just told her that in the first place. So I think there are a few little niggles where she's thinking can I completely trust him and if I agree to this what is my life and my future going to be like, married to someone who is an undercover detective."

Following the proposal, Spider receives a message from his pursuer with instructions to meet. Without letting on to Toyah, Spider informs his superiors. With his colleagues watching covertly, Spider waits in Freshco’s car park to meet his unknown enemy but nobody turns up.

Meanwhile, at the flat, a woman arrives to see Toyah, introducing herself as Spider’s wife. While Toyah makes conversation, Leanne Battersby bumps into Spider and is shocked when he reveals his wife isn’t in the country. Spider phones Toyah and warns her the woman is an imposter.

Panicked, Toyah tries to act normal but when Leanne and Spider burst into the flat they find signs of a disturbance, no Toyah or Sam Blakeman, and blood on the floor. "She’s just completely bewildered, and a bit frightened because it's just incredibly irrational behaviour from this mystery person to pretend to be someone else so there’s red flags all over the place," Georgia said of Toyah finding herself in a dangerous situation.

"Spider says to her just keep calm, I'm on my way back, don’t give the game away. So she’s just trying to act normal and use her people skills as a counsellor to keep calm in the moment. But we'll have to wait and see if this woman believes the facade that Toyah is putting on," the actress, 43, added.

Asked if viewers will get to see some drama in the coming weeks, Georgia, who has played Toyah in Corrie on-and-off since 1997, teased: "Yeah, absolutely, this comes hot on the heels of me having quite a lot of drama last year, but that does tend to happen in soap."

She added: "I’ve definitely filmed some scenes that were a bit unusual and there was some location filming which was really fun, so there's definitely a bit of drama to look out for."
