Coronation Street's Charlotte Jordan pleads 'don't ruin it' after Daniel's 'risky' offer

Coronation Street's Charlotte Jordan pleaded "don't ruin it" as she revealed details of an upcoming storyline for her character.

The soap star is renowned for her role as Daisy Midgeley in the long-running show. Her character is in a relationship in the soap with Daniel Osbourne, who is played by Rob Mallard.

Spoilers have revealed Daisy is about to have a health scare when she finds a lump on her breast. Rob told the Liverpool ECHO and other press that the scare will have a "triggering effect" on his character as Daniel lost his first wife, Sinead Tinker, following a battle with the illness.

He said: "That's much more difficult to face than it was the first time because he didn't know what was around each corner. So when it first came it was new and he just had to deal with it. The second time he would have known exactly what was going to happen as it went along and I think that would have been too difficult to handle."

Charlotte said Daisy will be heartbroken by the way Daniel responds to the news and pushes him away. However, the stars revealed the onscreen couple will overcome their rocky patch as Daniel will propose to Daisy later this month. He added: "The possible cancer scare makes him realise what he actually feels for her. He thinks 'what's the point in holding out? If you know how you feel, then you know how you feel.'"

Rob admitted the proposal is a "risky" move for his character due to the age difference and the short time they've been together in the show. Charlotte also said her character is taken aback by the offer.

She said: "It quite speedy isn't it? Let's be real. An engagement and a wedding hasn't even entered her brain so it's a very pleasant surprise. She added: "I don't imagine it's the proposal she envisioned for herself because it's not as individual as it should have been. She's never gonna say no to Daniel because she loves him."

The couple's relationship is set to be one of the show's major storylines over the next couple of months as Daisy's mum will arrive on the Cobbles.

Charlotte explained Daisy will have a fractured relationship with her mum, which will help viewers understand why her character connects with Daniel. She said: "They have both experienced grief and they both have abandonment issues parent-wise. They share meaningful things that will keep them together."

She added: "I think it helps viewers for sure and understand why she is spiky at times, why she does put up a front because she has had a lot of things go wrong in her life."

Rob chimed in: "Trust issues." Daisy shot back with a warning for his character as she said: "Yeah, so don't ruin it."

Producer Iain Macleod heaped praised on the two actors who play the onscreen couple. He told the Liverpool ECHO and other press: "I love these characters. Daniel reminds me a lot of Ken Barlow and Daisy reminds me a lot of Tracy Barlow.

"Ken is kind of Tracy's dad so that's a weird comparison but we wanted to pair a Ken with a Tracy to see that conflict that arises and it's a permanent source of pleasure for us as an editorial team."
