Coronation Street's Anna Windass star's weight transformation and cobbles return hint

Coronation Street star Debbie Rush quickly became a fan favourite after joining the Cobbles in 2008.

The actress, who played Anna Windass until 2018, had many dramatic story-lines during her long run on the show. She adopted troubled Faye Butler, played by Ellie Leach, but things turned sour when Faye alleged she abused her.

Later, she was framed by evil killer Pat Phelan and scenes eventually saw her stab him to death. She also had rocky relationships with husband Eddie Windass, and Kevin Webster.

A lot happened in her ten-year stint on the soap and fans still miss Debbie in Weatherfield, the Mirror reports. She has previously opened up about her exit from Coronation Street and admitted it came at the right time.

Speaking to WhatsOnTV, she said: “I had the best time on Coronation Street. But I moved on because I wanted to do other things. I love having the freedom to choose, because when you're on a long-running soap you feel tied down and you can't do anything else!”

Though Debbie has once said she "doesn’t think" she will be returning as Anna, she did say: "Never say never." Since her time on the show, the star has been keeping her private life away from the limelight.

The actress has recently starred in Brassic, alongside Corrie alumni Michelle Keegan and Jude Riordan. She also appeared in an episode of Inside No. 9.

During her time on Corrie, Debbie transformed her lifestyle and dropped four dress sizes in a mere four months. Debbie released an exercise DVD, after going from a size 16 to a size 8.

In 2012, she told the Mirror: "I hit 40 and started to turn into a frumpy mum. I felt like an alien. I didn’t have a weight problem when I was younger, even after having my kids - but in the last four years it started to creep on."

She revealed that she felt insecure after seeing a paparazzi picture of her in a black bra and pants. Debbie then switched her drinking - which used to be a few pints of beer on a night out - to lighter options.

The DVD is called Debbie Rush's Bulge Buster Workout and featured the paparazzi snap of her in her black bra on the front cover. She added: "I want to share my exercise secrets and show other real women just like me how to blitz away their body bulge."

When it comes to social media, Debbie has been keeping it low key. She hasn't posted since 2019. Some fans believe Debbie could be returning to Corrie after she was mentioned in an episode in early March 2022.
