Coronation Street's Adam Rickitt pictured shifting kegs after surprising career change

Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt has been pictured hard at work after a big career change.

The former soap star, who sporadically played the original Nick Tilsley in Corrie between 1997 and 2004, was seen lugging kegs and gin at his successful business in Knutsford, Cheshire.

The 44-year-old runs his passion project – Dexter and Jones, a craft beer/artisan gin/fine wine shop – with his Good Morning Britain correspondent wife Katy.

He co-runs the shop while still pursuing a career as a part-time actor, most recently popping up in Hollyoaks as Kyle Kelly a few years back.

Adam was snapped lifting heavy barrels ahead of the shop’s opening time on Thursday, while sporting a fluffy mane of blonde hair.

He wore light beige trousers, blue trainers, a blue t-shirt and a grey unbuttoned cardigan.

His casual look was made complete by a shadow of stubble and long necklace sat on the middle of his chest.

According to a website description, Dexter and Jones stocks "more than 450 different craft beers, 10 draft beers (which are ever changing), more than 150 small batch gins and more than 60 different wines.

"Our mission is always to offer the best beverages you won't find elsewhere.

"When it comes to craft beer, we are constantly on the hunt. From securing one-off lines by the biggest names in brewing, to seeking out the start-ups breaking new ground," it continued.

"When it comes to gins we focus on small batch distillers who make their drinks naturally without artificial flavourings, striving for the perfect botanical mix to tickle your tastebuds.

"As for our wines, they come from small, often undiscovered vineyards who pride product over pomp! The result? Big taste without the big price tag. In house we also serve amazing coffee by Grindsmith and delicious cakes made fresh each week by Stuart Thornley Cake Design."

Adam recently lifted the lid on his fertility struggles as he opened up on life with Katy, 38, and their dogs Rufus, Tallulah and Daphne.

He told OK! Magazine that he has an autoimmune disorder that affects his sperm count.

"I have an autoimmune disorder called Ankylosing Spondylitis and one of the effects is decreased fertility," he revealed.

"This lovely doctor was like, 'Mr Rickitt, you’re supposed to have a sperm count of three million, you have two...' I said, 'Two million?' He said, 'No, you have two!'"

But Katy reassured that they'd never planned on becoming parents anyway, sharing: "I didn’t really bat an eyelid. I was like, 'Oh, that’s a shame, but we’ve got each other’.

“I know having kids is very important for a lot of people, so it’s almost a good thing it happened to us."

"That’s how I knew that Katy was my soul mate," Adam said.

"We’re all brainwashed with the idea you have to have kids, but we were so in love that when we found out that I couldn’t, it wasn’t scary at all.

“It felt natural that it was meant to be just the two of us and our dogs."
