Coronation Street John Stape star's surprise career and night he partied in Liverpool

Coronation Street's John Stape is renowned as one of the show's most notorious characters.

The character was played by Graeme Hawley and wrecked havoc on the Cobbles from 2007 - 2011. He married Fiz Brown and put the beloved character through turmoil as he was sentenced to jail after kidnapping Rosie Webster.

Fiz forgave John after he served his time in prison, but things soon turned more sinister when he murdered a number of characters to keep secret that he stole his ex-colleague's identity to secure a job as a teacher.

John was on the run when the truth of his murderous acts was exposed. He died after he was involved in a car crash, but his actions have recently came to the fore again in the ITV show after a book was published on his life.

John and Fiz shared a daughter named Hope - and she has recently tried to make some money off her dad's infamous reputation. She found a selection of books on her dad that Tyrone tried to hide from her and sold sign copies to people at school.

As John Stape's sinister legacy continues to loom over Weatherfield, we have taken a look at where the star who played him Graeme Hawley is now as he continues to lead a successful career in showbiz as he has recently appeared in ITV comedy drama, Finding Alice.

Throughout his career he has also appeared in shows such as Peaky Blinders and will be renowned to soap fans for his role as DC Martin Crowe in Emmerdale.

Away from the world of showbiz, Graeme is also a talented DJ and the Liverpool ECHO reported in 201 1 that he once partied the night away at the Malmaison's reopening.

Insiders told the ECHO he was behind the decks as his soap mates and glam guests danced into the early hours and confirmed he was a big hit. The source said: "Graeme is an excellent DJ – he played a blend of disco, Motown funk and soul. He’s getting quite a musical fanbase around the north west – he even DJed at The Green Man festival in Wales earlier this year.”
