Coronation Street fans believe they have 'sussed out' the father of Sarah Barlow's baby after discovering she was pregnant.
Sarah was recently caught having an affair with resident bad boy Damon Hay, as fans predicted the soap star could find herself at the centre of a pregnancy storyline. Now fans have been proven right and are placing their bets on who the father of the unborn baby is.
The mother-of-two joined Dee-Dee Bailey in the Rovers Return for a drink, but felt nauseous as soon as she attempted to take a sip of wine. Trying to pass off her sudden sickness as a stomach bug, Sarah's reasoning was shaken after Gemma Winter's chat about kids caused Sarah to rush out of the pub and take a pregnancy test.
After rushing home and seeing the test turn positive, Sarah was left stunned and went back to the pub and spoke to Dee-Dee. She admitted that she didn't know who the dad was and confessed to her affair with Damon behind her husband's back.
In a move that surprised fans, Sarah later handed Adam the pregnancy test and admitted that she doesn’t know who the father is leaving Adam reeling in shock. "I don't even know how to tell you this... " she began before he said: "You're pregnant. Please don't tell me..."
She responded: "I don't know. I can't be sure who the father is." After a few moments of silence, Sarah asked him what he thought of the shocking news. "What do I think? I'm still coming to terms with the fact that you've had an affair and now you're telling me your pregnant?" an agitated Adam told her.
Corrie fans took to Twitter after the dramatic scenes aired as viewers thought this spelled the end of Sarah's marriage. One fan said: "Odds on the baby being Damon’s and Sarah changing her mind about a termination have just taken a hammering. #corrie."
"Well, I think that pretty much confirms that it’s going to be Damon’s kid… And Sarah’s not going to want to have a termination. #Corrie," another penned. While a third wrote: "How many babies by bad boy wrong ‘uns is Sarah gonna rack up??!!"
A fourth noted: "Can’t believe this is possibly the second time Sarah had gotten pregnant by a dodgy drug dealer who tried to screw one of her brothers over #corrie."
However, some fans couldn't help but complain about the similar storylines in recent years as history repeats itself. One shared: "This is literally the exact same storyline Gail had when she was pregnant with Sarah. She wasn’t sure if the father was her husband or her husband’s dashing Australian cousin, and of course it turned out to be her husband’s."
Another pointed out: "Faye, Sarah, Paul, David, Beth and Daisy have all cheated on their partners this year. That’s 6 cheating storylines in under 6 months. This show is beyond ridiculous got…"
A third added: "Has anyone else noticed the similarity in plot lines between #ClassicCorrie and #Corrie? A serial killer who has ingratiated himself into the local community (Richard/Stephen) and a baby whose parentage is disputed (Joshua/Sarah's baby) ?"
