Daniel Osbourne made a sudden exit from Coronation Street tonight as it all became too much for him.
The grieving dad broke down and was comforted on a bench by Bethany Platt, but was spotted by Beth who angrily confronted the pair of them.
Following her furious words, Daniel thought it best to leave the cobbles with Bertie so that he wasn't around Sinead's struggling family.
But Corrie fans were furious over how Sinead's family were acting and took to Twitter to comment.
One tweeted: "Sinead's family are behaving disgracefully. Forcing Daniel out, for a singular momentary indiscretion. The poor bloke is grieving for his wife. #Corrie #itv."
While another commented: "#Corrie Beth is really doing my head in. Daniel can't do anything right. SHUT YOUR MOUTH BETH."
A third remarked: "Bertie is Daniel's son Beth. Why is that so hard to understand?! #Corrie #coronationstreet."
"After the way Beth just spoke to Daniel is she really all that surprised he just took off with little Bertie? #Corrie," another wrote.
Daniel and Bethany horrified viewers last week by kissing one another - just days before Sinead's death.
Unfortunately, this really doesn't seem to be a one-off and Sinead's aunt Beth's suspicions about the pair may prove correct.
Bethany has been vilified by the cobbles residents after snogging a grieving Daniel, but she is convinced she is in love with him.
Opening up about the future for the pair, actor Rob Mallard (Daniel) has revealed that Daniel will need to "untangle all his emotions" to find where the truth lies with his guilt and attraction.
He said: "Him and Bethany share a guilt and there's a Sinead attachment to that, there'll be something that he wants but he doesn't know what it is that he wants from her.
"I'm not sure whether he needs to forgive her or whether he wants Bethany to forgive him as well."
Rob added: "There's something there."
Meanwhile Corrie's executive producer Iain MacLeod confirmed that their storyline would run into next year.
"It's got legs and it's emotionally complex," he said. "Bethany certainly thinks she's in love with him... is she in love with Fantasy Daniel or is she in love with the real man? Does she even really know the real man?
"For Daniel's part, the story going forward is about loneliness and isolation and it's about the Barlow family not knowing to which degree they should wade in and take over and look after Bertie for him or to what degree they should back off."
