Coronation Street fans beg producers for more 'gritty' Gail

Some Coronation Street fans have begged producers to give Gail some more serious storylines.

Gail Platt was centre of fan attention once again tonight as her latest antics were compared to that of "panto acting." Over the past few years she has acted as somewhat of a comic relief for the show despite delivering some of the ITV show's grittiest moments.

Tonight, she was seen dancing and singing to S Club 7 but some fans are unhappy with the direction her character is going, with some wanting to see the more serious Gail return. One fan said: "Please stop making a laughing stock out of Gail such a fantastic actress and your making her look like an idiot with this stupid singing and headphones give her some gritty lines that she’s so good at Corrie."

Another added: "Gail must be embarrassed having to perform this panto."

A final comment said: "Oh stop making Gail look more stupid in every episode she is in. Women her age are not like that."

While some miss her more serious side, some fans can't get enough of her newer bubbly demeanour and are requesting she gives them even more on screen fun.

One fan said: "I'm sure #Corrie wouldn't be as entertaining if it wasn't for Gail and her dancing every once in a while."

Another said: "Loving the Sally & Gail scenes tonight, so funny."

A third fan added: "We need more of the classic funny Gail moments."
