Coronation Street error spotted as Peter Barlow hit with bad news

This week's first instalment of Coronation Street saw Peter Barlow dealt a harsh blow.

A recovering alcoholic, Peter has undergone a liver transplant. But after being given a second chance at life, bad news was on the way again.

Soap fans know that it’s been a painful journey for Peter after his wife Carla Connor admitted sleeping with his nephew, Adam Barlow. Peter fell off the wagon when he found out, turning to booze to drown his sorrows.

Peter eventually saw the light and began to fight for his marriage and his life. After a number of setbacks, Peter finally received a new liver last summer, and has been doing well since.

However Monday's episode saw nurse Aggie drop a bombshell on him. Aggie was left horrified after hearing Peter's consultant, Mr Thorne, bragging to a colleague about how he rushed Peter's transplant operation in order to win a bet.

When Peter and Carla arrived at the hospital to bring Mr Thorne a thank you gift, Aggie told them what she had heard. Peter hit the roof and demanded to speak to a manager.

He was then also told Mr Thorne had taken a selfie with Peter's liver. The photo was sent with the caption "Foie gras, anyone?".

Peter was devastated. But many viewers at home spotted a huge problem with how things unfolded. Taking to Twitter, Ryan Glendenning said: "Aggie should of let the hospital tell Peter about Dr Throne. She did the right thing to report him - but she should not of told Peter" [sic].

notakaren_1 said: "Should Aggie have told Peter? Will she not get in trouble for that?", while Jamal said: "Aggie is being very unprofessional as a nurse discussing incidents with patients". Pamela Moore said: "Aggie needs a written warning for divulging information to Peter. Confidentiality Aggie....try to remember".

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8.30pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
