Coronation Street will welcome a former Hollyoaks star onto the Cobbles next week, it has been confirmed.
Sarah Lawrence, who played the role of Darlene Taylor between 2003 and 2006 on the Channel 4 soap, is heading over to ITV now.
Sarah will be playing a character called Viyona Lahiri, who is a reporter working for the Weatherfield Gazette, in scenes set to air next week.
Back in February, Sarah teased her new soap role when she shared a mirror selfie on Instagram wearing a Corrie location jacket while posing in the studio’s dressing room.
She captioned the post: "Cold. Cold. Cold. I never want to take this jacket off."
Her fans were delighted to see she had landed the new role, with one person writing: "Go you," while another added: "Yesss."
It's thought that Viyona will be the reporter that comes knocking on Daniel Osbourne's door during Monday's episode.
ITV spoilers previously revealed that a journalist will be sniffing around after pictures and videos of Nicky Wheatly's sex worker past were plastered all over the local school.
Turns out it was Max Turner who maliciously shared Nicky’s images with the rest of the school and ended up getting her suspended.
With no job and nowhere to live the future is looking bleak for Nicky, so Daniel says she can stay at his.
When a reporter comes knocking at the flat, Nicky decides to give her a quote but she is horrified when the story goes online.
It's unsure how long Sarah's character will be on the cobbles for, but as a mother-of-three she is also keen to spend time raising her family.
Sarah has appeared in a handful of roles including an episode of Holby City and two episodes of Doctors in 2020 since quitting Hollyoaks in 2006 to focus on raising her kids with husband Chris Moore.
Prior to appearing in Hollyoaks, Sarah played Mel Adams in Grange Hill for two years.
