Coronation Street has announced its new schedule for an action-packed spring on the soap.
The ITV soap will be moving to a new time of 8pm for hour-long episodes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, changing from its usual slot of 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
Its new schedule will begin from March 7th, with Emmerdale moving to its new time of 7.30pm.
Their new slots will put them in direct competition with BBC soap EastEnders, meaning that soap fans will be forced to choose which of their favourites to watch.
It comes ahead of a dramatic spring for Corrie as Abi Webster pushes the self-destruct button after husband Kevin finds out about her one night stand.
Initially, Kevin believes that Abi cheated on him with Seb's dad Tez and tells her that they are through, leading her to seek out her old drug dealer Dean.
Abi will be caught up in a high speed stolen car chase and finds herself dumped by the side of the road and drugged up.
In agony, she calls for an ambulance and is rushed to hospital, before being forced to make a life changing decision.
Coronation Street Producer Iain MacLeod said: “It’s an exciting time for the show and these stories will propel us into the hour-long era with a bang and all the characteristic drama, humour, twists and intrigue that Corrie viewers have come to expect.
“We’ve got high-octane action with tragic heroine Abi, leading to life and death dilemmas. We’ve got riotous romantic intrigue for Daniel, with deliciously dastardly Daisy pulling out all the stops to keep her man. We’ve got the uber-complex Gary, who has finally turned his life around and is atoning for his sins with Kelly, only to find himself facing a final reckoning with the ghosts from his past.
"And we’ve got heart-stopping, high-stakes drama for Sarah, featuring a knife-edge showdown between Adam and his tormentor Lydia, which will leave you wondering which one’s the bad guy. All of this in one big serving per night. What’s not to love?”
