Coronation Street airs emotional exit for popular character after huge storyline

Coronation Street have aired an emotional exit for Ryan Connor.

Tonight on the ITV soap, Ryan was seen leaving in a taxi as he headed to visit his mum Michelle Connor. He has been struggling as of late with his scars, and how it might affect his future - but he's hopeful things will get better.

At the end of tonight's episode, Ryan bid farewell to the street including Carla, with Daisy unable to get there in time. It is not known whether his exit will be permanent or whether he's due back.

However, he is expected to return amid this huge love triangle storyline between him, Daisy and her fiancé Daniel.

Reacting to his exit, fans were emotional to see him leave.

One person wrote: "Ryan has gone to stay with Michelle - I hope his temporary exit isn't too long. Michelle needs to come back some point. I miss her character. #Corrie," whilst another added: "Now Ryan if you could bring Michelle back with you that would be lovely."

"Hope Ryan isn’t away too long maybe he can bring Michelle back too #corrie," a third shared, with a fourth taking to Twitter to share their thoughts about the scene: "i don’t think i can live happily until ryan is back #Corrie."

Ryan Prescott - who plays Ryan - teased we would be seeing a "darker" side to Ryan.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards, he said: "When you’ve been through something so traumatic, you end up holding onto anything you can and that’s what Ryan's been doing.

"He does it with Alya, he does it with Crystal, he does it with Daisy. Then he finds himself attaching to Daisy who is pretending to be Crystal. It kind of leads him down a darker road after the humiliation, especially with Daisy being one of the only real relationships he has at the moment. It takes him to the next phase of his denial. It’s not like he’s over it.

"There’s that edge of reality and for people who’ve been through this, it’s a life long battle to get through it."
