A soap star has admitted that he goes to bed early to avoid extra energy costs in the cost of living crisis.
Coronation Street's Daniel Brocklebank, who plays vicar Billy Mayhew on the ITV soap, took to Twitter to share the drastic actions he is taking to save some money on his bills. He was supported by fans who shared that they were in similar circumstances.
There has been an astronomical rise in household bills affecting the whole of the UK. And things are only set to get worse as the energy price cap will see another hike in prices later in the year.

The actor proved that everyone is affected, as he wrote: "Anyone else find themselves going to bed early just so they don’t have to turn the lights on? I feel like I did when I was 8 & could still hear the bigger kids playing outside.. #energycrisis"
Fans commented with their own experiences. Kim said: "I sit in the dark every evening. Only watch my soaps. My cooker is broken so only have air fryer to cook with. I turn everything off standby. And not used heating for 5 years. I'm putting on £200 a month on electric just to barely exist. How is that right @Dan_Brocklebank?"
Lucy put a positive spin on it, as she said: "We are spending most evening under candle light - it's actually quite nice and also has the handy by product of warming the room up!" Meanwhile, Daniel said: "To save on my energy bill bills whenever I'm home I never put the lights on and limit how much TV I watch."
Coronation Street airs 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV and ITVHub
