Coronation Concert viewers say Katy Perry came dressed as 'British icon' as she stuns in dress

American singer Katy Perry stunned the audience at the Coronation Concert with her performance - and her incredible gold dress.

The 38-year-old hitmaker was among the stars performing in front of the King and Queen at the concert on Sunday night.

Katy looked regal in a shimmering gold princess dress and started with her classic Eye Of The Tiger - which seemed to go down very well with one of the younger Royal Family members.

Princess Charlotte could be seen joining in with the American popstar, next to her mother the Princess of Wales, who swayed along to the song.

The performance was accompanied by another light display – this time of a tiger’s head.

She then finished with another of her hits Firework before Take That finished the concert.

But it was Katy's dress that also got people talking with one person on social media saying she came dressed as 'a British icon' - that being a golden penny from Quality Street.

@fcoatesPR tweeted: "Nice of Katy Perry to come dressed as a British icon, the golden penny from Quality Street".

@imcgov added: "Katy Perry dressed as the quality Street that’s always left til last there. While @Ciren_Photo tweeted: "Loving the fact Katy Perry rocked up as a quality street sweet".

And @drcfeverett also wrote: "Is it me, or did Katy Perry come dressed as a Quality Street?".

Viewers were also impressed by her vocal performance at the concert with michellepryde tweeted: "I could have watched Katy Perry for hours. She’s incredible live" with @RyanTheSoapking agreeing: "WOW!!!!!!! What an ending Katy Perry was incredible

The Coronation Concert featured a star-studded line up including Take That, Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli and Sir Bryn Terfel, Olly Murs, Pete Tong and Nicole Scherzinger.

It took place on Windsor Castle's East Lawn and was watched by a crowd of 20,000 people - as well as millions at home who watched on BBC One.
