Coronation bank holiday hours for Primark, IKEA, Wilko, B&Q and John Lewis

Tomorrow is officially the Coronation of King Charles III in what will be a historic moment for the country.

To mark the occasion, the UK Government officially granted people an extra-long weekend, with Monday, May 8 being declared a bank holiday. Naturally, that means that many of us might be wondering if our local shops are open.

Similar to many major supermarkets, the opening hours for some of our favourite stores across the high-street can be affected. It usually varies from store to store, but some might take the opportunity to close their doors a bit earlier than usual.

While the majority of stores across Scotland look set to be open as normal during the long weekend, it looks like a few may be closing a little earlier on the bank holiday Monday itself.

To make sure you don't get caught out, here are all the retailers that have confirmed their opening hours this weekend.

Primark

The budget fast fashion chain has confirmed that its stores will be operating at normal hours during the weekend. Store opening hours vary depending on location, but the majority will be open from 8am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday.

However, stores will be operating at reduced hours on the bank holiday Monday.

Wilko

Wilko stores will be open at reduced hours on the bank holiday Monday (Getty Images)

Wilko will also be open as normal during the weekend. Majority of stores open between 8:30am-5:30pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.

That said, most stores on Monday, May 8 are set to operate at reduced hours from 9am-5pm, though this can vary.

IKEA

IKEA stores in Scotland will remain open as normal throughout the bank holiday weekend. That means that the majority of stores are open from 10am-8pm on Saturday and Sunday.

On the bank holiday Monday, the majority of stores will be open from 10am-9pm.

B&Q

DIY store B&Q will be remaining open as normal during the coronation bank holiday weekend. The majority of stores are open between 7am-8pm on Saturday and 9am-6pm on Sunday.

Stores continue to operate as normal on the bank holiday Monday, which means that the majority of stores operate between 8am-8pm.

Store hours do vary, so check for your local B&Q opening hours using the store finder.

John Lewis

During the weekend, John Lewis stores in Scotland will be open as normal. The majority are open between 9am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday.

Stores will be operating at reduced hours on the bank holiday Monday, with the majority open between 10am-6pm.
