A Cornwall-based electronics manufacturer has appointed a new managing director as it looks to drive growth. Falmouth-based Sellectronics, which specialises in printed circuit boards used in various electronic applications, has hired Jon Hurrell to oversee its next stage of expansion.
Mr Hurrell has worked as a manufacturing operations consultant for the past five years, and is also involved with local industry organisations such as the Cornwall Manufacturers Group and Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.
Sellectronics saw turnover almost double from £1.7m in 2021 to £3.3m in 2022, with Mr Hurrell telling BusinessLive the firm was “on track” to hit £5.2m in the current financial year.
The businessman said it was “enormously exciting” to be joining the firm - founded by Dean Haney and Jason O’Connell more than 14 years ago - at a time when its order book was “overflowing”.
Sellectronics, which employs around 30 staff at its base in Church View Business Park, is currently looking to expand its activity in the aerospace sector, with the firm also targeting renewable energy as another growth market.
Mr Hurrell said: “Dean and Jason are the brains behind Sellectronics and the achievements secured by this SME to date are extraordinary. Their dominant expertise lies in the technical aspects of the business, ensuring the company delivers the most up to date cutting edge solutions.
“My role is to be able to shape and develop the business further, so that it can maximise the opportunities the expanding market offers.”
Mr Haney added: “Jon’s recruitment is a significant new chapter in our company’s growth. Understanding and listening to our clients has created our agile electronic manufacturing service. Listening to the needs of ourselves has been our next step and Jon’s expertise will give Jason and me the freedom to dedicate our specialisms on the product, allowing the company to thrive further under Jon’s expertise.”
