A corner shop in Wales has been spotted selling the popular energy drink Prime for £9.99 a bottle. The Londis branch on New Road, Porthcawl, had the orange flavour of the drink, created by Youtube personalities KSI and Logan Paul, on the shelves on Wednesday morning.
The 500ml drink first went on sale in the UK for £1.99. Prime drinks sold out in a flash after its UK launch in December 2022. After being a big hit in the US, shoppers rushed to be some of the first to try out the product in Wales.
Several people commented on a Facebook community page upset by the high price. When asked why the cost of the drink was so high, the shop's manager, Sunbaram Kiruba Haran, said: "I understand that the cost might seem high but because the drink is so expensive to source right now we have to make a profit. We ordered a case of Prime for £84 from one shop in London so that's why we have to make the money back."

Underneath the post on Porthcawl First- For all, dozens of people criticised the price, with one person saying: "I certainly can't afford £10 for an energy drink." Another added: "I thought £3 was bad enough."
But not everyone felt the price needed to be criticised quite so heavily. One person in the Facebook group commented: "Don't buy it then?"
Someone else said: "They are £20 or £30 pound in some places... if customers didn't want it they wouldn't sell it. Are you paying for it? Then obviously not, so just let them carry on - it's business for them."
Shoppers can buy the drink in other supermarkets such as Asda, Aldi and the Spar as well as purchasing the drink on Amazon or Ebay. And the Londis in Porthcawl is not the only store selling the product for a higher price than usual.
According to the Nottingham Post, a Go Local is currently selling Prime for £10 a bottle after having to import products from America. A dessert shop in Glasgow have also upped prices to £10, according to the Mirror. Like the Go Local in Nottingham, Tubbees Dessert Lab on Paisley Road West told the newspaper the price is this high because they imported the energy drinks from the US.
