Cork will enjoy home advantage against Kilkenny in the Allianz Hurling League semi-final, which will take place at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday.
It comes as a result of a home and away arrangement between the counties for knockout League ties and as Kilkenny hosted Cork in a relegation play-off back in 2019, Kieran Kingston’s side will enjoy home advantage under lights, with the game to throw in at 7.45pm.
Cork were last in a League final in 2015 and haven’t won the competition since way back in 1998. Although Kilkenny are joint-holders having shared the 2021 title with Galway last year, they last won it outright in 2018.
The other semi-final between Wexford and Waterford will be held at UPMC Nowlan Park on Sunday afternoon with a 3.45pm throw-in. There are no floodlights at the venue but the fact that the clocks go forward by an hour this weekend means that there should be sufficient daylight to complete the game, even if extra time is required.
Wexford haven’t reached the final since 1993 with their last victory in the competition coming 20 years before that. Waterford’s recent League record has been impressive having won the title in 2016 and competed in two finals since.
Both semi-finals will be shown live on TG4.
