Cork fans slam 'idiots' over 'disgusting' chants about Stephen Bradley's son

Cork City fans have slammed 'idiots' over 'disgusting' chants aimed at Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley's son during Friday night's 1-0 victory over the Hoops at Turner's Cross.

A late Ruari Keating goal secured a famous win for the Leesiders over 8-men Rovers, but the actions of a small set of fans following the final whistle has marred the result.

In the middle of a post-match interview, Bradley referenced the obscene chants which came from outside Turner's cross but overlooking the pitch.

“It’s disgusting. I’m going to put in a report to the police. Singing about my son…,” said Bradley.

“You take stick. As a football person, that comes with it. That’s your job and that’s fine.

“But speaking about a sick nine-year-old is disgusting and Cork City should be ashamed of them. I want them banned for life. That’s disgusting.

Cork City immediately released a statement condemning the chants, apologising to Bradley and confirming that the club would work with the 'relevant authorities.'

Fans of the club have also slammed the chants, branding them 'disgusting' and calling those that took part in the incident 'idiots.'

"That's an embarrassment to our club and city as a whole . Hope we can stamp that kind of behaviour out .. apologies to Stephen and his family," said Greg.

"Just pathetic this is not sport its just a disgusting carry one. Ban from Turners Cross is the only thing they might understand. There must be nothing working between their ears," said Jim.

"Extremely poor actions from a small immature minority. Some lines should never be crossed," said Brian.

"What kind of mentality would a person need to have to do that. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and in no way indicative of Cork City fans," said Kenneth.

"Only thing here is find identify and ban. Clowns of the highest order," said Pat.
