Corgi Toys has the perfect Father’s Day gift for James Bond-loving dads

We can say with complete certainty that you have a James Bond fan in your life. And we can also say that this is probably your dad.

Before Marvel brought us the Avengers, there was another kind of superhero that men across the world worshipped: Bond, James Bond.

The fictional 007 agent, who was most recently played by Daniel Craig, has long been revered for his way with words (and his way with women).

So what better gift to give your James Bond-loving dad than an authentic miniature toy version of the spy’s Aston Martin DB5?

The toy car has been reissued by Corgi Toys and is based off the same toy car that featured in its catalogues in the 1960s.

The brand has dubbed it an “essential item in any diecast or heritage enthusiast’s collection” as it is the first time it has been introduced since it was discontinued over half a century ago.

The toy car is complete with metallic gold livery, real rubber tyres, working model suspension, and further features like a retractable front fender and machine guns, a rear bullet deflector, recreated James Bond and villain figures, a spring-loaded and functioning ejector seat and a vintage 1960s box packaging.

The car was the most famous Corgi Toy ever produced and sold 750,000 models in the seven weeks after it was introduced in 1965.

It went on to sell just under four million of the cars, but little are left in full working condition 50 years on - which is why those that are sold for hundreds of pounds in online auctions.

Normally priced at £39.99, the toy car is currently on sale for £22.99 which is a 42 per cent discount. Plus, the car comes with a free 1966 Corgi Toys catalogue complete with the original colours and print materials.
