NASCAR driver Corey LaJoie has announced that he will be running a limited Cup Series schedule with Rick Ware Racing this year. In addition to his racing duties, LaJoie will also be serving as an analyst for Amazon Prime Video's portion of the Cup Series schedule.
LaJoie will be behind the wheel of the No. 01 Ford Mustang for Rick Ware Racing as he looks to further develop his Stacking Pennies Performance Brand. The exact number of races LaJoie will participate in has not been disclosed, but he is set to attempt to qualify for the upcoming season-opening Daytona 500.
Given that the No. 01 car does not have a charter, LaJoie will need to secure one of the four open spots in the Daytona 500 field either through time trials or his qualifying race. His Ford Mustang will be sponsored by DuraMAX and Take 5 Oil Change.
LaJoie expressed his gratitude towards Rick Ware for his support in bringing the Stacking Pennies Performance vision to life. The No. 01 car symbolizes the concept of 'Stacking Pennies,' which LaJoie has championed, emphasizing that small victories pave the way for greater success. LaJoie's Stacking Pennies podcast has garnered significant popularity within the NASCAR community.
Furthermore, LaJoie will be transitioning to the broadcast booth when Amazon Prime Video kicks off its five-race NASCAR coverage in May, starting with the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Reflecting on his racing career, LaJoie acknowledged his accomplishments but expressed a desire to push himself further. Despite not having secured a win in NASCAR's national series, LaJoie remains determined to make a lasting impact in the sport and the communities it reaches.
LaJoie, the son of NASCAR veteran Randy LaJoie, has been competing in the Cup Series for the past eight years, with his most recent four seasons spent with Spire Motorsports. While he has achieved four top-five finishes during his time with Spire, LaJoie's highest Cup Series standing has been 25th place.
Corey LaJoie's racing journey continues to evolve as he embarks on this new chapter, balancing his on-track pursuits with his expanding role as a broadcaster and brand ambassador.
