A teenager has been arrested after police seized a terrifying 18 inch sword in Glasgow.
Officers on patrol were called to reports of a young man in possession of a weapon on Jamaica Street at around 7.30pm on Saturday.
The youth was soon found on the nearby Hope Street and arrested. He will appear in court at a later date in connection with the incident, Police Scotland have confirmed.
It is understood that the knife has been seized and will be destroyed in due course.
Police shared an image of the sword on social media placed next to a ruler to show the true scale of the weapon.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.30pm on Saturday, 26 November 2022, officers in Glasgow responded to a report of a male in possession of a weapon on Jamacia Street, Glasgow.
“The male was traced a short time later on Hope Street and the weapon was recovered.
“A 16-year-old male youth was arrested in connection with possession of the weapon and is expected to appear at court at a later date.”
